Ken McCollum's creative ceramic art work is a process of review and renew. He enjoys creating pieces that are traditional forms with contemporary images incised through a black underglaze, revealing design patterns of images which reflect the content of that particular piece. He has also more recently moved toward a technique of using dotted underglazes on cone 3 stoneware. He develops repetitive layered images using a color dot pattern which created a strong visual dynamic.

Ken received an MFA degree from Edinboro University and taught ceramics and sculpture at Muskingum College for most of his career. He has exhibited his work in regional juried exhibits, universities such as Ohio University and Rio Grande University, at the NCECA Conference, and in the Zanesville Museum of Art.
